1. How do I register to vote?

You can register to vote online at Go Vote Colorado. To register in person, go to the Douglas County Elections Office at 125 Stephanie Place in Castle Rock.

2. When is the last day I can request a ballot by mail?

October 26, 2020.  

Upon receiving your mail ballot after this date, it is strongly suggested that you drop off your voted ballot at a drop box or VSPC location. 

3. When is the last day to register to vote?

At least eight days before an election you may still register to vote online at Go Vote Colorado to receive a ballot in the mail. To register after this time through 7 p.m. on Election Day, contact the Douglas County Elections Office at 125 Stephanie Place in Castle Rock.

4. How do I determine what my election district is?

There are seven election districts within the Town of Castle Rock. View the map and enter your home address to determine your election district.

5. Where do I vote?

Regular and special elections are conducted by mail ballot in Colorado. Ballots are mailed to registered voters at the address associated with their voter registration.  

6. When is the deadline to return my ballot by mail?

If you return you ballot by mail, please affix adequate postage and allow two to nine business days for it to be delivered.  Ballots must be physically received by the Douglas County Election office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd to be counted. Ballots should be returned by mail no later than October 26, 2020.  

Mail ballots postmarked November 3 and delivered after this date WILL NOT BE VALID and the BALLOT WILL NOT BE COUNTED.      

You may also drop your ballot off at an election drop box, however, ballots must be in a ballot box or a voter must be in line to place a ballot in a ballot box no later than the close of polls at 7 p.m. on Election Day, November 3rd.

7. Where are the ballot drop-off locations in Castle Rock?

Ballot drop-off locations are available 24-hours a day beginning October 12, 2020 through Election Day, November 3, 2020.  Ballots must be placed in the ballot box by the close of polls at 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

8. What can I do at a Voter Service and Polling Center?

Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC) offer voters the opportunity to:

• Register to vote
• Update voter registration
• Obtain a replacement ballot (bring a photo ID)
• Vote in person
• Drop off a voted ballot
• Use an ADA accessible voting machine

  • Early voting begins October 19 and continues each weekday through November 2 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Saturday hours on October 31st are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

9. Why didn't I receive a ballot for the election?

Ballots are not forwarded, if you have moved and did not update your voter registration mailing address, go to Go Vote Colorado. You may also request a replacement ballot in person with valid identification at the Douglas County Elections Office.

10. What happens if I make a mistake on my ballot?

If you make a mistake on your ballot, or for some other reason are not able to use the ballot mailed to you, a replacement ballot can be issued. You must present valid identification at the Douglas County Elections Office to receive a replacement ballot. The original ballot issued will be voided at that time.

11. Why do I have to sign the outside envelope when I return my mail ballot?

The purpose of your signature on the outside of the envelope enables election officials to complete a signature verification process to affirm that the ballot was submitted by the elector to whom it was issued. If you prefer not to mail your signed ballot, the ballot can be dropped off at a designated ballot drop box instead.
