Gym-goers, fitness buffs and swimmers, mark your calendars. The Castle Rock Recreation Center will be closed Aug. 13-17 for routine maintenance and general cleaning. Extended closures of the basketball courts, leisure pool, hot tub and steam room are already in place.The Recreation Center is generally closed for at least a week annually to help make sure the facility stays in tip-top shape.In addition to deep cleaning, this year, crews will be:• Painting, replacing pool surfaces and refurbishing the play structure at the leisure pool• Painting, replacing backstroke flags hanging over, and acid washing the lap pool• Refurbishing the wood floor and repainting the gym• Refurbishing the wood floors in the cardio/strength and conditioning areas• Painting and replacing carpet in the Tykes Toyland and preschool classroomsDuring the closure, Recreation Center pass and punch card holders can use their cards for the MAC at Philip S. Miller Park or at Butterfield Crossing Pool.The Recreation Center will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. However, please keep in mind the basketball courts will be closed through the weekend; reopening Monday, Aug. 20. Additionally, the leisure pool, hot tub and steam room will be closed through Friday, Aug. 24.
