Wilcox Street road crews set to work at night starting May 13

Pavement Maintenance Program

If you’ve driven Wilcox Street Downtown, we appreciate your patience! Our crews are hard at work keeping our streets safe and extending the life of our infrastructure.

Starting Sunday, May 13, they’ll be working at night.

Until now, workers have been removing damaged concrete and repairing the road and sidewalk. Sunday night, they’ll move to grinding and joint sealing on the roadway. To reduce impact to the traveling public, the Town is able to do this work at night.

Work hours will be 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday night through Thursday night each week. Crews will start at the north end of Wilcox Street and work their way south to Plum Creek Parkway. Overall, work is expected to be completed by early June.

In Colorado, all work schedules depend on weather. Thank you for your patience!

This roadwork will be completed as part of the Town’s annual Pavement Maintenance Program. This Council-approved program concentrates residential road maintenance to one of five defined residential areas each year on a rotating basis. Additionally, primary and Downtown streets receive repairs as needed. The goal is to increase efficiency, reduce costs and minimize disruption to neighborhoods.

In all, the Town will invest $11 million in street maintenance this year. The funding is primarily from the Town’s Transportation Fund, which includes revenues from sales tax, motor vehicle tax and building use tax.

It’s important to note there are other development-projects that will require necessary lane closures during the day, such as the Riverwalk. View a map of all lane and road closures at CRgov.com/roadwork.
