Driving through Downtown, the progress is clear. A lot of work has been done, and Festival Park is being transformed. As work continues, there will be a few minor inconveniences to accommodate crews. One of those inconveniences will happen later this week, when Second Street is completely closed to all business access.
As part of the Festival Park redesign, Second Street between Wilcox and Perry streets was reconfigured earlier this year to only allow for one-way access from Perry Street to the alley. However, starting Thursday, July 6, Second Street will be completely closed to all traffic. Crews will be starting utility work to tap into an existing waterline within Second Street and installing a new fire hydrant.
During construction, access to the one-way portion of Second Street from Perry Street to the alley between Wilcox and Perry streets will be closed. This will impact residents and business deliveries in the area. Please remember all businesses can be accessed directly from Perry Street.
Construction is only expected to last through Friday, July 7 – weather dependent. Additionally, crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to get the work accomplished as quickly as possible.
