Three petitions related to mayoral elections certified for circulation


The Town Clerk Thursday certified for circulation three petitions.

The petitions propose to change language in the Town Charter that defines how the mayor is elected and the general composition of Council. With the forms of the petitions approved, petitioners can begin gathering signatures.

For any of the petitions to be referred to an election, State Statute requires signatures from at least 10 percent of registered voters in Castle Rock as of the date the petitioners filed their statement of intent. In this case, petitioners will need 4,288 signatures. Signatures must be submitted by July 10, 2017.
