Parks Maintenance Facility

Parks Maintenance is currently located at the Castle Rock Service Center on Castleton Drive, having shared space with the Public Works Department for nearly 20 years. Personnel growth and an increase in equipment requirements have created the need for additional space. Parks Maintenance will share new office space with Facility Maintenance. The new facility will be located at the end of Caprice Street at the old waste water treatment plant.

Parks and Facility staff is anticipated to move into the new space in early 2019, pushing the planning process forward. Staff reviewed several design options with the architect to assess the best functional design and best fit for land topography. A final design decision was made, with construction beginning in 2018.

Project Update

In December, Parks Planning and Construction Manager, Brian Peterson, continued to work with the project architect, HB&A, and their sub-consultants on completing the drawings for the facility. The drawings were submitted to Development Services the week of Jan. 5. Once the drawings are reviewed and returned, the bidding process will start at the end of January with the intent of commencing construction in early April.

Additional work was coordinated with Castle Rock Water and Public Works departments to remove structures and concrete rubble, and to build a new access road to relocate the Douglas County slash mulch program to another location on site. Adjacent businesses were contacted in preparation of the future work that will soon take place.
